21 st May

well what a day!!!

i finished yesterday on a big downer, 2 BI down due to just playing bad and today couldn't have started worse.

within half an hour of my session i found myself stacking off with AQ os pre against what i thought was a simple call against a maniac, he turns over AA. at this point i was down 2 BI and i seriously considered going back to bed but i sat and thought for a bit and decided to grind it all back, i was grinding it all back very well so much that i was only 14$ down for the day when BANG this happens

Hero (MP): $64.64 (129.3 bb)
CO: $49.79 (99.6 bb)

Pre-Flop: Hero is MP with A of spades K of clubs
UTG folds, Hero raises to $1.75, CO raises to $6, 3 folds, Hero raises to $17.50, CO calls $11.50

Flop: ($35.75) 9 of spades A of clubs 7 of spades (2 players)
Hero checks, CO checks

Turn: ($35.75) 2 of hearts (2 players)
Hero checks, CO checks

River: ($35.75) Q of spades (2 players)
Hero bets $47.14 and is all-in, CO calls $32.29 and is all-in

Results: $100.33 pot ($3.00 rake)
CO showed Q of diamonds Q of clubs (three of a kind, Queens) and won $97.33 ($47.54 net)

do no ask why i didn't be on the turn. i think the flop check is ok given the range i put him on, 10-10+ when i saw the Q on the river i without thinking shoved, and he turned over just as i thought.

i then preceded to go on tilt to lose another buy in and a half, finding myself down again badly at 2.5 BI after grinding back the initial first losing streak.

after this i wasn't sure what to do, i decided to grind with the intent just to see what could be done. i started playing pretty LAG but it worked for me, i was pushing ppl off hands and with a bitta luck getting some hands too.

the next thing i know im about 70 up and im thinking wow what a day, this game surely isn't for the faint hearted and then just as i clicked off the auto post blinds button i was faced with a tough spot.

my decision to call in the end came down to his W$ASD figure of 43 and i thought he had missed some sort of draw. i called and bang the day finished 130$ up. An unreal turn around from where i was on not one but two occasions!!!

sick day, testament to my mental strength , i have been thinking of giving up but if this month goes well i think i have to continue to grind on :)

May, so far so good!

so may has started well, i haven't really played a whole heap but im now in a routine that should stick as long as im doing well for the rest of the month. this of course is the make or break month

on top of these im also up about 150 ish as i played on another computer but obviously did not get the hand histories.

i bought another lot of hand histories and have since been preying on some retards which is what i can but my 37BB/100 hands down to so far in nl50. however i find it hard to get away from hands liek QQ, JJ on 10 high boards and losing to the big slick or KK's.

i haven't been playing much different, just 3betting a bit more and squeezing resulting in a slightly higher VPIP and PRF which is a good thing. although i am finding im squeezing OOP too much and the callers are still calling 7-8X BB sqeezes.

hope you are all enjopying your poker and doing well. i just need to get on a little roll for my confidence and for my dream as well. wish me luck grinders!!!

April, a month to forget

im not too sure what happened in march yes i ran bad, im not hiding from that fact as can be seen in the stats but i wasn't into it and im sure there was some bad playX 100 happening as well.

im not sure what to do now, the monetary goals are right out the window, i lost 200$ extra than what the stats say due to a little expirement on stars so it was real bad. im optimistic i can turn it all around this month its a fresh month im doing a few different things, the only thing i need now is some luck and some determination to get up now that winter has started to set in its so so hard to get out of bed a 4-5 am!!!

pls wish me luck this month i really need to prove to myself and others i can do this, this is pretty much it in terms of chances if it does not happen this month then i will probably be looking for another job.

well april has been a bad one. losing alot of money and now everything is really up in the air. im still gonna grind it out but i need some confidence that i can do it. i have been running bad but im sure there are many many leaks too.

this goal of getting to Europe keeps getting further and further away, im still confident however, im on the right track

also going to be playing some double shoot outs on stars as i have had past sucess in them and im hoping i can make some good profit from them.

here are a few stat images, see what you think .

Probably the last post of March

Well the end of March has come upon us and from a poker front im quite please, although im not on track monetary wise, im certainly on the right track if i keep up the effort and persistence.

As you can see in the stats below im running pretty well, well at least thats what the stats say, to degree i can't really complain about luck, most of my stack for stack hands have held and really i haven't got my money in bad too often which is always a key!!

Im still on stox poker, trying to utilize it to its full to fast track my progression so my goals can come into fruition.

below you can see my session stats from today, it was my first main day at the .25/.50 level, so far so good, some post flop leaks i need to iron out but im feeling good.

life in general is pretty mundane but i can't really complain, i work roughly 25 hours a week and about the same per week with poker and the rest is spending time with my lovely girlfriend and finding some time to catch up with friends.

here are the March stats, please feel free to comment, i wanna know if anyone actually reads with blog.... lol

i hope everyone had a great March and i wish you a big April. BRING IT ON!!

things are looking brighter

since the last entry things have been a bit better, slowly but surely im making some money, not as much as i need to be but im hoping as long as i play the sort of poker i know im capable of playing the results will come.

i had a horrendous week last week only saved by a ridiculous session and basically one player, i left the table with over 7 BI which was pretty nice!

life continues to roll on, working, not much of a social life, this weekend the AFL premiership season starts so thats something to look forward to, lol im joking there is plenty to look forward to in my life, but as you all know the grind is pretty brutal.

if someone can fill me in about the use of HEM's EV feature that would be great, im not sure why but it says i shouldn't have made half of what i have made so far, not good!! ha

here is the progressive graph and todays session, didn't play that much today due to a sleep in and having to go to uni and work!

peace!

a bad day

i knew one was comming, as bad as that sounds, i have been doing pretty well of late but i didn't expect a 5+buy in loosing day on the biggest day of the week for me.

a combination of bad play leading to some tilt and prehaps a little bad luck but not much resulted in me spewing almost 6 buy ins.

to make matters worse i mixed in some NL 50 tables just to dabble and got anally raped, not fun :(

i cbf putting numbers up cos they are too depressing.

wednesday 11th march

had an overall good day, again i finished doing some stupid things in the last half hour that really cost me. you cannot be unhappy with a day like that though currently running at 11bb/100 hands which is i guess good for 13k hands played. Time will tell though.

im looking to move up when my BR hits 1500, so hopefully sometime next week i will be play nl50, kinda scary, i have mixed in a couple nl50 tables already and i seem fine its just a lot more money you have a risk at any one time!

rakeback is great isn't it, in 13k hands I've earn't $93 bucks, its great for your overall win rate!

below are today's session stats

using infomation

villain was a standard calling station i felt with a 48/6/0.4 to be honest i thought he was on the FD hence my continual basically pot bets but i still used his statistics here to know that TP or second pairs are usually good against such a large range in which this guy has. using his calling station stats i made appropriate flop and turn bets and because the flush didn't complete on the river i tried to make a bet that looked weird, to induce a call from his "busted flush draw" which may had also of made a small pair or other possible hands in his wide range.

given what he showed down i could have got the other $1.70 in his stack from him but in respect to the pot and the opponent i thought this was a near perfect play. :)

Thursday the 5th

hey guys

as poker goes the last few days have been up and down but today i came out of a little 3k hand rough spot as can be seen in the graph and session stats

Life is continuing to carry on, i work about 25 hours a week at a caffe/restaurant. im working mostly nights which is good for poker as i get up at about 5:30 am to play but the long days are already taking their toll. Being tired is not a good thing for my poker but also for life in general.

In the next few weeks once my routine with work and poker is settled i will be incorporating my gym work which will work nicely with my attempt to eat well.

I hope my luck continues as i strive for a big enough BR to be able to move up to nl50 in the next week or so. today as you can see i ran way above EV but i think i deserved it!! :)

adios! thanks for reading!

monday the 2nd

Today has been one of those days where your happy about 1 session and furious about the next few. My first session I felt I was unstoppable and playing really solid poker. The next few sessions of the day I found myself having brain fades and making really stupid decisions as well as having a bit of rough luck as we all get.

Im as yet to work out a specific routine in terms of when the best time of the day is to play etc but I think after this week I will have it all worked out. I will also be depositing some more money as planned at the start and continue at the .10/.20 level until im ready or 10k hands, I think the game is so different between nl20 and nl50 but I know it sounds weird but im positive I will be better suited to the nl50 game!!

Below is my graph as it stands, you can really get a grip of what I was talking about in the first few lines of my post.

wednesday the 25th

hey all

as i write im having a break between sessions, this morning has been pretty brutal with a 600 hand pretty much break even stint but oh well thats how poker is i guess.

having only started on monday i feel im slowly getting back into the groove, given that this is the first time i have played poker for 4 months i think im doing ok. some huge areas i need to work on that i have already found are obviously my hand reading skills and learning how to fold even when i have a nut hand to a slightly better hand and some basic math.

below are some stats thus far.
feel free to comment, i would love to hear from anybody!!

it's on!!

hey world

as of monday my dream should finally be a reality. i have finally finished university and im ready to take the plunge into low nl grinding

due to the horrendous AUD it has been harder for me to get together the money needed to start the initial bankroll of 2 k. i was originally going to start at the .25/.50 level but may be forced now to go down to the .10/.20 for a while to get the BR up to where i feel comfy.

i have decieded to go with chilipoker on teh ipoker network due to their commitment to making players feel like their custom is appreciated through good VIP rewards.

the next post will be one in which the grind will have already started so wish me luck!!

adios, grauela!!
